The Virgin Australia domestic lounge in Melbourne is located at Terminal 3 at Tullamarine Airport. The entrance is stylish and inviting and upon entry you are immediately greeted by a sea of smiling faces behind the reception desk.
We arrived close to the changeover from breakfast to lunch so were able to make some fluffy pancakes from the automatic pancake machine before the lunch items came out. My kids were in somewhat of a frenzy at all of the food on offer and started making their verbal list of goodies they were eager to gobble.
I had my eye on the Portuguese tarts which I must say, were probably the yummiest I have ever eaten.
Whilst non-alcoholic drinks are available at all times, the bar service opens at 11am and includes a wide range of premium wines, beer and sparkling. I was officially on holidays so my choice was easy, a delightful glass of chilled Grant Burge petite bubbles, cheers!
Fresh fruit, barista coffee stations, bite size cookies, snacks and the latest magazines and papers all add to making the lounge experience as comfortable as can be prior to your flying journey.
Charge stations are located throughout the lounge so if your ‘mini me’ throws a tantrum because the iPad died whilst Dora was being an explorer then the lounge has you covered. Even better, put the electronics away and grab a front row window seat with a spectacular view of planes landing and taking off.
The bathrooms are meticulously clean and feature locally made Hunter Lab products. There is a shower available and a bar style counter with a brightly lit mirror, perfect for getting that fabulous pre flight look (the look at the end of the flight is usually less fabulous, so make the most if it while you can!).
There are plenty of seating options for travellers. If you are flying for business and wish to escape the families with the little kids or vice versa, a family travelling with kids in tow and don’t want to interrupt the serious looking business travellers, exploring the space will ensure that you find a comfy seat that is perfect for you.
The lounge has a direct exit through to security so there is no crowds to contend with, ensuring you get to your departure gate pronto.

Use of the lounge prior to our flight was a lovely way to kick start our holiday. The amenities, food, drinks and comfortable space all contributed to us boarding the plane feeling refreshed, relaxed, well fed and excited for the next leg of our adventure.
