Beautiful Gold Coast. A location that has always been a favourite of mine ever since I first visited as a young girl. It’s got everything one needs for a holiday… sunshine, adventure, beautiful beaches and more. Tick, tick, tick. Choosing which place to visit with my sons was an easy choice for me, Surfers Paradise here we come!
I had a few requirements when deciding where to stay, I wanted to stay central to the action, in a hotel that was super family friendly and lets not forget the most essential hotel feature according to the kids…..the all important pool!
Novotel Surfers Paradise was the perfect choice when it came time to booking our accomodation.
First of all, the location is 10/10. The hotel is located right next to bustling Cavill Ave which is a hive of activity day and night. For families wanting to grab snacks and drinks for on the go, a supermarket is conveniently located below the hotel and the beach is just a short stroll away.

Our deluxe family room was located on level 19 with picturesque views of the ocean and the golden sandy beaches of Surfers Paradise. The recently renovated rooms are beautifully styled and perfect for families. Our room had a balcony with table and chairs which was a beautiful spot to enjoy a morning coffee whilst taking in the stunning scenery. A king size bed and a seperate bedroom with two singles for the kids, complete with their own tv, meant that everyone had room to spread out and relax.
We were delighted to find the sweetest welcome gift in our room when we arrived. An edible beach scene complete with sand, a handprinted chocolate surfboard and chocolate seashells presented along with a handwritten note welcoming us to the hotel. An incredibly thoughtful gesture which made us immediately feel like valued guests.

The kids eyes were wide with excitement when we arrived in the room and discovered the boogie boards, hats and a blow up beach ball that were waiting for them. Before I had a chance to unpack they were already in their bathers ready to hit the pool!
The pool and spa area is located on level 5 and much to my delight the pool is heated, meaning that we were able to make ample use of it day and night.

For those wanting to work up a sweat on holiday (or just to work off all those delicious cocktails) then there is a gym and tennis court with gorgeous city views located on level 5. Personally, I’m happy to be a spectator or just flop in the spa, but the option is there for those gym bunnies or those who have over indulged…..as you should on holiday!
On#5
A beautifully designed space perfect for relaxing with a cocktail in hand whilst taking in the last rays of sunshine on a warm balmy evening.
On#5 has a chilled holiday vibe with cool tunes, creative cocktail list and a tasty menu featuring the likes of braised beef sliders, salt & pepper squid and one of my faves, a bucket of fresh king prawns with cocktail sauce and lemon….yummo!
On#5 at the Novotel is located on level 5 close by to the pool area which makes this rooftop terrace bar perfect for pre or post pool time or even a quick dip in between drinks.
On#5 is a hidden gem open Friday – Sunday 4pm-8pm. Gather your friends, kick back, chill out and pass me a margarita!
The Lobby Bar
If you are looking for a venue to enjoy a relaxed drink whilst taking in some live music and nibbling on tasty tapas then you can’t go past the lobby bar located on the ground floor of the Novotel. The menu features goodies such as truffled mushroom and Persian feta arancini, twice cooked pork belly with peach and peppercorn chutney and moroccan spiced pumpkin stuffed zucchini flowers. If you can’t decide what to chose then the platter features a tasty mix of the tapas items.
The lobby bar menu includes a little tummies section for the kids with items to please even the fussiest of eaters, which my youngest is! Burgers, fish and chips, pizza, bolognese, kids mezze plate and more. The menu is such good value and makes The Lobby Bar a great choice for families wanting a fuss free dinner destination.
Whilst the kids enjoyed their strawberry and cherry mocktails, I opted for the cocktail of the month. ‘Ruby on rails’ is a delicious concoction of fresh strawberries, gin, rose and pimms. Wonderful to see Novotel supporting Aussie strawberry farmers and a great reason to visit the bar and have a cocktail. Or two 😉

Breakfast at the Novotel
Breakfast would have to be one of my fave meals of the day. We were certainly treated to a breakfast extravaganza at Novotel. We opted for an in room dining experience, because who doesn’t love breakfast in bed! (especially on a Sunday with the rain gently falling). The Belgian waffles were the star of our breakfast show, fluffy waffles complete with maple syrup, chantilly cream and fresh berries. Heaven on a plate. A fresh fruit platter, outrageously tasty pancakes, smashed avo on toast and granola, chia, mango and coconut pots made this breakfast fit for a king (or in my case, two princes).

The Novotel was the perfect hotel for us to stay at during our time in Surfers Paradise. The staff, facilities, dining options and quality of the rooms exceeded expectations and we loved every minute of our holiday. Whilst the weather wasn’t quite what we were hoping for, there was still plenty to do and the bonus of the heated pool meant that we were able to swim and have spa time whether it was rain, hail or shine and believe me, it rained a lot! I would definitely recommend the Novotel Surfers Paradise for those looking to visit Gold Coast. A must stay for families, couples, singles and everything in between.
