I love my home city of Melbourne. It is home to amazing restaurants, roof top bars and has a huge cafe culture. The city has a plethora of dining and bar options and if you do some exploring you will find hidden gems tucked away in laneways, hiding behind secret doors and nestled up on rooftops, reached only by those in the know. There is always some sort of event happening in Melbourne, if you do a little research, you’ll find the list is endless.
As we know, holidays are expensive, even the budget ones usually end up costing more than we planned. They are definitely too far and few in between and so thats why I love to be a tourist in my own State as often as possible. It’s an opportunity for a mini holiday without the staggering credit card bill at the end of the trip. Be it a day trip, a night away, a weekend in the Country or by the sea, a short getaway is a great way to relax, unwind and recharge. Im sure you would have seen the tourist buses that cruise around your City, the good old ‘hop on hop off’ bus. My boys and I saw one recently and decided that is going to be our next outing, (ok, I decided, they weren’t as enthusiastic as me, but Mums are always right, right?!) I’m a bit of a geek when it comes to travel, I love to research the City I am visiting and believe it or not, you can actually discover amazing places and sights you may not have found if it wasn’t for the good old hop on hop off. Besides, who doesn’t feel like they are on holiday whilst sitting on an open air double decker tourist bus with other tourists. I’ll keep you posted on the excursion, I’m expecting great things, (my children however still need convincing).
